The conference will be held on the soothing shores of the Atlantic Ocean at the San Alfonso Retreat House, 755 Ocean Ave, Long Branch NJ  07740.

Our Speaker this year will be:

Known to many as “The Ambassador of Hope”, Andre Norman’s experience and expertise is what empowers him to speak about and create training programs for families in crisis, substance abuse and teen drinking, re-entry, ex-offender, gangs, prison reform, and mentoring. Andre travels to schools, churches, and community centers around the world to serve as a mentor and friend to youth and community members alike.

From illiteracy to gang activity, Andre’s childhood prepared him for nothing less than a life of crime and violence. This behavior eventually led Andre to be sentenced to over 100 years in prison, with no sign of parole. A natural-born leader, he quickly rose to the top of the prison gang where he managed criminal and gang activities from within the confines of the correctional facility. His notoriety grew and Andre found himself in solitary confinement. There, a light turned on inside of Andre and he made the decision to turn his life around. He did just that and was paroled after serving a 15-year sentence. From that moment on, Andre has never looked back.

Having been exposed to both sides of the fence, Andre pulled from his life experiences and launched Project Footprints, an organization designed to connect individuals and corporations who want to make a difference with those who need a helping hand.

Andre has also presented Workshops at American Correctional Association National Conferences on “Protecting Staff Integrity from Inmate Manipulation,” “Inside the Mind of a Prison Gang Leader,” and “Managing Manipulative Inmates in a Correctional Setting.”

Of course, there will be ample time for networking and best practices presentations and discussions too!

San Alfonso Retreat House, located right on the beach front of the New Jersey Shore, offers fabulous facilities with a relaxed and contemplative atmosphere.  The ocean front vista is always a refreshing change from most of our daily routines in correctional facilities.   Meals are exceptional with many healthy menu options. Rooms are simple, containing a single bed, sink and desk; most rooms share a bathroom with shower.  Rooms for couples are available and have their own bathroom.  Bedding and towels are provided.  Smoking is permitted outside the retreat house.

Kosher meals and Halal meats are not served at the retreat house.  Kosher foods are available in a nearby grocery store. The kitchen staff graciously makes eggs available at each breakfast and a fish choice (e.g. tuna fish, baked fish) at each other meal that would meet Halal requirements.

Check-in begins on April 1st, at 1:00PM and the conference closes with lunch on April 3rd

Registration - $285.00 ($25 late fee for registrations after Friday, March 22nd.)
